In a physics class, the teacher asked, “Did God create everything that exists?”
Yes, Mr. Teacher,” replied a student.
“And does evil exist?”
The students: Yes, there is!”
The teacher replied, “If God created everything, then He also created evil and so it is unreasonable to believe in a good God.”
The students fell silent after such an answer.
The teacher was visibly pleased with himself and proud that he had once again proven that the Christian faith was a legend of the gods.
A student named Albertus raised his hand and said, “May I ask you a question, teacher?”
“Of course,” replied the teacher.
Albertus stood up and asked: “Do you think the cold exists?”
“What kind of question is that? Of course there is the cold. “Have you never been cold before?” replied the teacher.
All classmates laughed at the student's question.
Albertus replied: “Teacher, you know that cold does not exist according to the laws of physics. What we humans think is cold is actually the absence of heat. The fact is: cold does not exist. Humanity simply invented this word to describe how they feel without warmth.”
Albertus continues to ask the teacher: “Do you believe that darkness exists?”
The teacher replies indignantly: “Of course they exist.”
Albertus then explains: “You are wrong again, teacher, darkness does not exist any more than cold. Darkness is actually the absence of light. Light can be studied, but darkness cannot. The darkness cannot be measured. A simple ray of light can penetrate and illuminate a world of darkness. How do you determine how dark a room is? You measure the amount of light present, right? Darkness is a term used by humans to describe the state without light.”
Finally, Albertus asked the teacher: “Is there such a thing as evil?”
The teacher replies, somewhat unsettled: “I think so. We see it every day. It is clear from the multitude of crimes and acts of violence all over this world. These evil deeds are nothing but mischievous.”
Again Albertus replies: “Evil does not exist. Evil is the absence of God / or the absence of love.
It is just like the darkness and cold, words invented by men to describe the absence of God/love.
God did not create evil. Evil is not like faith or love, which exist, just like light and warmth.
Evil is the result of what happens when God's love is not in the heart.
It is like the cold that comes when there is no heat, or the darkness that comes when there is no light.”
The teacher sat down thoughtfully.
