Document authenticity printer

Important: The certification only takes into account the combination of printer, original toner and paper. For example, anyone who uses third-party toner in their law firm is no longer guaranteed document authenticity.

The basis for this is the service regulations for notaries (DONot) for the area of documents. Section 29 stipulates that originals, copies and certified copies of notarial documents must be produced in such a way that they

  • well readable,
  • permanent and
  • forgery-proof

are.

In the specification of the devices and consumables that meet these conditions you will then find notes like

  • BAM/PTS examination certificate
  • Original toner according to §29 DONot
  • Certified for the production of originals of notarial documents (§29 DONot) as well as for the production of documents in various other areas of the document system (e.g. execution and certified copies in the notary office – §29 DONot).

BAM/PTS stands for “Paper Technology Foundation”, PTS, in Heidenau (formerly BAM). Among other things, it carries out technical document tests and certifications to prove that the tested printing, copying or writing system is suitable for use in document processing. This happens, for example, when producing originals of notarial deeds or equivalent documents.

Only with certification is it guaranteed that the printouts are actually considered “document-proof”. The paper must have properties that make adulteration virtually impossible. This includes, for example, behavior during erasing attempts. Characters must not be removable without leaving traces visible to the naked eye. In addition, it must be lightfast and resistant to aging within certain limits.

The PTS certificate for printing documents or certified copies that are considered authentic or forgery-proof expressly refers to the use of the components printer, toner and paper. If even one of the three is changed, the certificate loses its validity.

Some papers, such as the “Neusiedler copy paper HP'E white 80 g/m²”, are certified for several printers from different manufacturers.

The DONot was revised in 2001, in which the contents of §§26 and 27 were summarized in §29.

And it shouldn't look like that. Even the original ink is inadequate...

Smart ink replacement Canon CLI 551 vs original ink. Just changed.
(Printer IP7250 on standard – not high quality)
Still image at the beginning. When it starts – 125x speed – later 700x speed. Spread on 100g Neusiedler quality.
Original holds up better.
But there is no comparison to Detlef's Workforce Epson.
