The effects of wearing simple protective masks (without valve - FFP2 / 3) were examined in a doctoral thesis at the Technical University of Munich. Immediately after putting on a normal thin surgical mask, exhaled CO2 is rebreathed and can lead to hypercapnia.
Doctors describe hypercapnia as an increased level of carbon dioxide (CO2) in the blood. Common symptoms of hypercapnia include headaches, concentration problems, tiredness, sweating, poor fine motor skills, high blood pressure, palpitations and cardiac arrhythmias, confusion, unconsciousness, etc.). At an advanced stage, panic, seizures, impaired consciousness and finally coma (CO2 anesthesia) can occur.
The conclusion from the summary (page 43) is: “The accumulation of carbon dioxide under surgical operating masks is caused by the impaired permeability of the masks in normally breathing people. The accumulation of carbon dioxide (...) under each surgical mask that was examined increased the partial pressure of carbon dioxide measured transcutaneously [hypercapnia] ... Since hypercapnia can restrict various brain functions ... "
It would be conceivable that the effects shown in this study could have a stronger effect on people with restrictive pulmonary diseases and on smokers for the reasons mentioned above. Until then, the area of application of the surgical masks must be critically discussed and defined in order to avoid unnecessary wearing times.

This is the main threat posed by face masks. When the identity is removed, a feeling of anonymity takes over and a loss of empathy quickly occurs.
If there is a force in our society that wants to make us slaves then the best way to do it is to erase our identities, and face masks are a powerful psychological tool used to accomplish this sick end. "
