I have decided to actively contribute something to the topic of nature. The bee deaths have always annoyed me, so we (my wife and I) bought our first bee hive from a local beekeeper on May 13.05.2016th, XNUMX.

It is a so-called Segeberger bee hive. The white styrofoam was painted green and is dry after an hour. The loot including color costs around 130 euros. There are 3 incubators that are gradually populated.

The initial equipment also includes 20 wooden frames for the honeycomb, a pack of wax sheets and a soldering station to solder the wax sheets into the frames.

The soldering process is very simple. Place the plate on the wires of the frame, apply current to the contacts and wait until the plate has melted into the wire. The 15 wax plates were processed in about half an hour.

Of course, there are other investments to be made, but the hobby will increase the yields of my garden and also drop at least 25 kg of honey per hive ... if I do everything right.

At first it was all about painting and soldering. I preferred styrofoam because the thermal insulation is much better in winter than wood.

This is the box now. The first resident is already showing interest and has made a house inspection. Let's see when he will move in with 40.000 brothers and sisters.

First the rooms have to be prepared. For this purpose, the honeycombs were soldered into the frames.

11 frames fit per incubation chamber. Note: the frames are only available as a pack of 20, the honeycomb as a pack of 15. It would be too easy to provide the right number for each.

Now all that remains is to find a suitable location for the prey. That I can work on it from behind and the entrance hole orientation to the south.
