I work in the IT department of a very large and well-known insurance company - headquartered in Germany. Unfortunately, what I tell friends and family about my projects is dismissed as a “conspiracy theory”. Many people do not see or understand what lies ahead with this great digitalization revolution - mainly the possible dangers/abuses.
Here is a small excerpt from the pilot projects we are working on
Topic: Digitalized car (pilot projects are already underway):
In the next 10 years it will no longer be possible to insure “old hams”/“old cars” (I drive one too).
People will be forced to buy a “digital” car (otherwise there will be no insurance). These cars are “online” around the clock and communicate in real time with the insurance company/traffic authority/remote maintenance/monitoring/authority etc. Depending on the driving style, time/speed/driver, the insurance premium is automatically adjusted. This means that if you drive too fast/risky -> you not only pay a fine to the magistrate, but your insurance premium increases automatically. If you are registered as a night driver -> higher premium. If you have more passengers in the car -> higher premium. If your premium is not paid -> you will no longer be able to start your car.
We are already in discussions with several large automobile manufacturers to bring a Europe-wide, uniform technical “one-size-fits-all” solution onto the market. Many people don't know that fully integrated breathalyzers (Alcoguard) will be a MUST in the next generation of vehicles. This means that you can no longer start your car if you are drunk. Even if you are below the alcohol limit, this data will be passed on to the insurance company and you will be penalized with a higher premium. If you exceed this limit, the relevant authorities will automatically be informed and your insurance will be canceled immediately.
Transparent customer
We are also relying on the upcoming digital ID to access personal data such as health, traffic, housing, etc. The background is that all the necessary customer data is already stored and as long as it does not leave the EU, everything is fine for the insurance industry with the GDPR. Nowadays, customers easily give their consent in the fine print for us to collect their personal data. In the event of a claim, we collect medical records, living conditions, vehicle data, etc. in real time. Pilot projects with credit institutions/banks are planned soon to "reward" a "healthy" lifestyle and punish an unhealthy one... in which we monitor shopping behavior (currently limited to districts , but it's only a matter of time before it's extended to individuals).
If you live in a district where there is a lot of unhealthy consumption -> will this affect your life insurance/pension/death insurance etc... We already check the liquidity of ALL customers, but that is still pretty old-fashioned. With the coming technological advances (digital ID, digital currency) we will be able to check liquidity in real time via interfaces with banks/credit institutions/etc…, as well as the tax situation of each customer.
Safety
Also planned and already planned as a pilot project for 2025 - a cooperation with the Federal Ministry of Defense/National Security. If a vehicle is registered to a politically exposed person and there is a suspected case, this person can no longer start their vehicle (it is deactivated via remote monitoring). This applies to all private vehicles in which the politically exposed person sits (with the exception of officially registered vehicles, e.g. police vehicles).
The digital ID cards are equipped with a powerful RFID chip.
