They may be bright and shiny and “exciting” and competitive and all that, but they are essentially a false substitute for real public elections and they lead to political lobbyists (think tobacco lobbyists, big pharma lobbyists, big -Oil lobbyists) have access to your wallet with no accountability and no concern for you.
Political parties are foreign in origin and did not exist in early America. They only came here from Europe about ten years before the civil war. They became popular with our overseas subcontractors, and after the war they replaced our elections with their elections.
Fortunately, not everyone was fooled.
They also made it illegal to vote in their private company elections unless one also acquires their foreign citizenship.
